begin/end

It was definitely the beginning of something new.

He tried to seek her out, but she slowly walked away from him. He had always refrained from showing emotion publicly, but as she vanished from his view, he allowed a solitary tear to fall. She held her head high, praying this wouldn't prove to be another mistake.

As seasons passed, her feelings towards him remained devoid of romance. She often felt emotionally unfulfilled, and he was powerless to alleviate her distress. Her tears were frequent. Her love for him drove her to the brink of madness. Yet she loved him enough to let him go, she thought.

He knew she was lying. The hesitance in her voice. She was never transparent. Despite her awareness of her poor acting, she persisted in her deceit, and he consistently forgave her. He overlooked her faults because his love for her was profound, and the thought of losing her terrified him to his core.

She met someone who was equally intelligent, if not more. He lavished her with words of adoration, awakening her soul and mind. On paper, he was perfect. Yet, his eyes were devoid of warmth. She averted her gaze and indulged in the fleeting affair.

She felt like they were stuck in a rut. She tried to switch things up. She brought in activities rich in art and culture, engaging in intellectual discussions. However, he never reciprocated her efforts. He paraded her as if she were a trophy. Determined, she persisted in trying to make the relationship work.

They had dinner at his place again with his family. He forgot their 34-month anniversary, she remembered, but she could not care less. She noticed how loud he chewed for the first time. He mistook Schrödinger for a German athlete. She sighed as he tenderly kissed her cheek.

He made her a sizable gift for their second anniversary. It was the sweetest thing he had done so far. Moved and impressed, she leapt into his arms, tears streaming down her face. She loved him, and she knew he loved her in return. She knew he would never intentionally hurt her, but she doubted herself.

Everything went great. They were inseparable and ridiculously compatible in photos. The endless selfies and many, many dates. She attended his games, radiating pride. He stayed up with her, helping her cram, and bought her favourite drink.

They would meet once a week, and every time they met, it was magical. They rode that gigantic thing, he never loved anyone this way. She was elated. She waited for 10 minutes. She took a shower, and she smelled phenomenal. He was so cute, and she was infatuated.

He texted her straight away. She was intrigued and thrilled to have caught his attention at school. She saw a boy with gentle eyes, familiar from somewhere. She sought him out, but he gradually walked away.

It was definitely the beginning of something new.
